Abstract

This is a photograph of Margaret Virginia Bounds' house. On the back of the photograph it is written that the home was built in the late 18th or early 19th century and was known as the Thomas Wilson place until the Bounds family purchased it in the 1970s. It was located along route 50 east of Mardela Springs, Maryland.

Administrative History

Built by Thomas Wilson, prior to his death in 1844, the old Wilson homeplace, formerly located along US Route 50 east of Mardela Springs, was a two-story, three-bay, single-pile main block structure. Thomas Wilson owned a midsize plantation of several hundred acres during the second quarter of the nineteenth century, as well as several slaves and a part interest in nearby Double Mills.
