Abstract

The Turpin Family History Collection contains correspondences between Turpin family members. Carl J. Turpin and Elma Kennerly Turpin discuss the state of local canneries, housing issues, and on the development of Salisbury as a whole. The letters are dated September 19, 1888.

Administrative History

The collection of Carl J. Turpin is currently interred at the Monet Library in the University of Oklahoma. Carl Turpin was well known for owning and running the Beaver, Mead, and Englewood Railroad. The town of Turpin, Oklahoma is named in his honor. Elma Kennerly Turpin is assumed to a close relative and a native of Salisbury, MD.
