Abstract

This collection contains various papers and histories related to the historic house on 16 Bay Street in Berlin, Worcester County, MD. The collection includes various photographs, compact discs containing maps, layouts, and histories of the Burkhead property, as well as miscellaneous histories, land and court records of Worcester County, MD itself.

Administrative History

The Burkhead/Truitt property in Berlin, MD has been located on 16 Bay Street since approximately 1840. The original tract was owned by then-County Court judge William Stephens in 1677, and was passed on to numerous families including the Truitts, Tompkins, Diricksons, Sturgis', Howards,  Hoskins, Croppers, Lawes and the Morrises. David and Jacqueline Burkhead became the current owners of the property on November 12, 1981.
