Abstract

This collection contains a sale sheet for Kingston Hall located in Somerset County, Maryland, a souvenir pamphlet from Crisfield, Maryland, a copy of "The Hatchet" from June 1, 1934 from Washington High School, a booklet from the class reunion of the Washington High School class of 1945, a worship booklet from Manokin Presbyterian Church dated October 1952, and an informational pamphlet on the history of Palmetto a cemetery and former mission church belonging to the Manokin Presbyterian Church.

Biographical History

The son of John Daniel Pomeroy and Clara Marie Muller, Stewart Julius Pomeroy (1922-2004) served in the U.S. Coast Guard in WWII rising to the rank of coxswain. He was stationed at the New York and Boston Receiving Stations and served aboard the USS Sea Cloud (1942 & 1944) and Algonquin (1943-1944). He was discharged in October 1945. When he was five years old, Stewart was struck by an automobile. In 1963, he worked for the Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Wayne, NJ. In 1961, he thought about being a Benedictine monk at Saint Paul's Abbey in Newton, NJ. In 1965, he was an employee of Sika Chemical Corporation.
