Abstract

Color lithographs of maritime scenes created by John Moll. The three prints depict a skipjack, a Chesapeake Bay bugeye, and the city dock in Annapolis.

Biographical History

John B. Moll, Jr., (1910-1991), was a marine painter and lithographer. A native of Reading, Pennsylvania, he was educated there and at the School of Industrial Arts, Philadelphia, and the Wilmington Academy of Art, Delaware. He worked as an instructor at the Academy of Art, and as a draftsman at the Wilmington Shipbuilding Company. In 1937, he married his wife, Betty Pool; their union produced two daughters. He received an honorary doctorate in 1976 from Salisbury State College.
