Abstract

The Evelyn Jefferson Fox papers document the activities of her family members who resided on Taylor’s Island and in Federalsburg, Maryland. Records document the family’s activities through nineteenth-century correspondence and photographs. Two photographic scrapbooks from 1910-1920 also document the cultural landscape and family activities through photographic images and newspaper clippings of Ocean City, Federalsburg, and Taylors Island.

Biographical History

Evelyn Jefferson Fox, (1921-2015), known as Jeff, was born in the area of Federalsburg, Maryland, in Caroline County near the Delaware border. She married Hamilton P. Fox, Jr., (1919-2013), an attorney who was a member of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, served as the Assistant Special Prosecutor for the Watergate Special Prosecution Force and was heavily involved with the Democratic Party. After having four children the couple would later divorce. Jeff was also involved in politics as a member of the Salisbury Democratic Legislative District 36 in the late 1970s.
