Abstract

This collection consists of programs from 1989 through 2004 exhibiting photos, rules, and winners of the Salisbury Fireman’s Muster and Olympics.

Administrative History

The Firefighter’s Historical Foundation of Delmarva, Inc., threw the annual Muster and Olympics from 1981 to 2004. This was an event that gathered and promoted public awareness on the impact of fire services. It was also a fundraiser that helped the Fireman’s Museum continue their focus on the history and memorabilia of Fire Departments on Delmarva’s Lower Peninsula. Later Musters would include a parade to help gather a greater population of people. These events included dalmatian shows, many competitive games, a parade, a muster, and more.

Scope and Content Note

The Salisbury Fireman’s Muster and Olympics programs document the fundraiser and events from 1981-2004. These programs document various rules regarding Olympic games to dalmatian shows. The programs include many pictures of events, competitions, games, and teams that attended each year. There are also many ads from companies and businesses around Salisbury, Maryland, throughout each program. In later programs a hall of fame containing firefighters was shown, this section of the programs included photos and information on the new inductees each year. In each program there is also a schedule of the day that helped people know what was happening throughout the event.
