This collection contains emails, letters, financial and fundraising documents, meeting minutes, and advertising materials for the Wicomico Environmental Trust (WET). These papers were collected by John Groutt, whose personal papers such as correspondence and educational materials are also included in the collection.
Dr. John Groutt is a dedicated researcher and environmental activist. He received his PhD in in religion and social sciences from Temple University. He served as Director of the Upward Bound Program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He also worked as a field reader for the U.S Department of Education. He has conducted research on the TRIO program, writing on the history and evolution of them (TRIO is a collection of federally funded programs designed to help low-income and first-generation students succeed in college). Dr. Groutt became one of the founding members of the Wicomico Environmental Trust (WET), and is currently serving as the chair of the Advocacy and Public Policy committee. He also serves a coordinator of the Wicomico Interfaith Partners for Creation Stewardship. Every year the WET awards a community member with the John Groutt Award for Environmental Stewardship.

This includes environmental case files such as the Holloway Sandblasting business versus Habanera Farm dispute and the Whiton case. These papers were collected by John Groutt whose personal papers, such as correspondence and educational materials for TRIO, are also included in the collection. Additionally, this collection contains environmental articles and regulations for Salisbury and Wicomico County.
