The Energy Education and Conservation on the Eastern Shore Grant Records document the collective work of Salisbury State College, Chesapeake Community College, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on community workshops based around energy use, sustainability, and saving money through environmental conservation from 1977-1978. The workshops are based on professions and include Architects & Builders, Residential Construction, Agriculture and Poultry, Banks and Lending Institutions, Small Businesses, a High School Exhibit, and a Traveling Exhibit. Also included in the collection are photographs, film slides, and cassettes from the workshops as well as paperwork such as grant applications, committee meetings, and correspondence between committee members, consultants, and school administration.

The Energy Education and Conservation on the Eastern Shore Grant was initiated by Salisbury State College in 1977. As the grant was in the application process, communication between Salisbury State College, Chesapeake Community College, and University of Maryland Eastern Shore began. Members from each college were gathered as the advisory committee. As the project progressed, consultants were brought onto the committee to bring their expertise to the workshops. The Project Director changed several times throughout the run of the project, but there was one who presided for a majority of the time: John Sartorius, Associate Academic Dean at Salisbury State College. The workshops were mostly completed throughout the first half of 1978, and Sartorius worked to balance budgets, oversee subcommittees, and write reports to the State Board of Higher Education, who originally approved the grant. Sartorius accepted a job at another college in July 1978, and Ronald Phipps took over as Project Director. Phipps saw that the last workshops concluded and wrote the final report after the project had run its course.

The 7 workshops included are Architects & Builders, Residential Construction, Agriculture and Poultry, Banks and Lending Institutions, Small Businesses, High School Exhibit, and Traveling Exhibit. Most of the workshops include fliers, presentations, handouts, and evaluations. Preceding the workshops are the Advisory Committee, the subcommittees, the grant application, and correspondence between the committees and consultants, other committee members, university staff, the State Board of Higher Education, and prospective community members to audience the workshops. There are also cumulative evaluations, correspondence congratulating members of the workshops, reports, budgets, calendars, publicity materials, and work orders.
