Abstract

The Advance Newspaper contains the July 1, 1942 issue of The Advance published by The Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America. The issue promotes the relationship between labor and victory in World War II and includes political cartoons, letters from fighting men, Amalgamated Workers in the Armed Forces, an editorial on Stalin, and a piece calling for the end of racial discrimination among other articles.

Administrative History

Known for supporting "social unionism" and progressive political causes, the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America (ACWA) was founded in 1914 and dissolved in 1976 when it merged with the Textile Workers Union of America (TWUA) to form the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union (ACTWU).
