Abstract

This collection of original documents was found in the attic of the Allen family home in Allen, MD which was built in 1860. The documents presumably came from the previous home which was built in 1820. All documents pertaining to Somerset County except one. The collection of land records contains surveys, deeds, plats, and table of courses.

Administrative History

Allen is a village in Trappe District in Wicomico County, Maryland. Named in 1884 after the postmaster and merchant, Joseph S. C. Allen. Previous names included Upper Trappe and Brereton.
