Abstract

Oral interview with William Purnell, Jr., accompanied by a photographic print album documenting the shanty boats, and gun club sites along Assateague Island, Chincoteague Island and Chincoteague Bay. Also included are two maps noting the locations of the clubs and boats, 1935-1945, 2015.

Biographical History

William Purnell, son of William H. and Sarah L. Purnell, owner of the Altantic Hotel in Ocean City, Maryland.
