Abstract

This small collection contains papers and personal possessions related to James A. Waller, Jr., (1889-1986) Deacon of Christ Episcopal Church, Blackwell Virginia, 1953 to 1986. Items of primary interest include newspaper clippings about Waller, copies of genealogical material used by Waller to apply to the Society of Colonial Wars in 1981, and photographs of Waller with fellow clergy from 1953.

James A. Waller, Jr., (1889-1986) Deacon of Christ Episcopal Church, Blackwell Virginia, 1953 to 1986.

Scope and Content Note

Series I: Newspaper Clippings, Contains ordination announcement from 1953 and funeral announcements from 1986.

Series II: Personal Papers, Contains confirmation certificate, marriage certificate, ordination invitation and ordination program from November 30, 1953.

Series III: Genealogical Papers, Photocopies of ancestry charts and birth certificates compiled by Waller to submit an application for membership to the Society of Colonial Wars. Application submitted in 1981.

Series IV: Personal Possessions

Serues V: Photographs, Contains photographs of Waller at his ordination at the Feast of St. Andrew, November 30, 1953 at Christ Episcopal and Waller with the following clergy: Rev. Manley Cable, Rev. Richard R. Martin, Rev. Frank Fortune, Rev. Walter Wickard, Rev. Dick Lee, Bishop Phillips, and Rev. Ed. Bethea.
