Abstract

Four flyers advertising the need for a constitutional amendment for Prohibition sponsored by the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, circa 1915.

Scope and Content Note

The four flyers in this collection were sponsored by the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union to advertise their push for national legislation on Prohibition. The flyers depict various political cartoons which address different aspects of life affected by Prohibition. Included are depictions of the first nineteen prohibition states on “the water wagon,” commentary on the fairness of liquor license taxes, the growing nationwide prohibition movement within states and the movement’s march toward Washington.
