Abstract

The Atlas of the State of Delaware was produced from actual surveys by and under the direction of D.G. Beers, published by Pomeroy & Beers, 320 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1868. Featured throughout the Atlas, are maps of towns and regions notating landowners, rivers, borders, and transportation lines.

Administrative History

Atlas from surveys of Delaware in 1867 by D.G. Beers, engraved by Worley & Bracher, printed by Fred Bourquin and published by Pomeroy & Beers in 1868. The atlas is arranged by counties and hundreds and shows the locations of houses, businesses, churches and schools. 

This atlas was purchased by donor's great-grandfather, Garrett S. Layton (1825-1901), who was a dry goods store owner and farmer, Bridgeville, Sussex County, Del. His store, is notated on the page featuring Bridgeville. 

Atlas was inherited by the donor, from his father, Edwin Layton.
