Abstract

Diocese of Easton records documents the history of the Diocese of Easton, specifically St. Paul’s Parish in Centreville, Maryland and the Bridgetown United Methodist Church near Ridgley, Maryland on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The materials date from 1924-2003 with the bulk of the material dating from the history of the churches, 1989-1993. The history of the Diocese of Easton is documented in printed histories, maps and newspaper clippings.

Administrative History

The Diocese of Easton comprises of the entire Eastern Shore of Maryland, which contains nine counties and over 4,000 square miles. The Diocese was established in 1868 and is made up of 38 worshipping communities of nearly 10,000 members, served by 70 clergy and is separated into three convocations, the Northern, Middle and Southern Convocations.
