Abstract

The Packers Ice & Cold Storage Comapny Ledger, 1950-1951 documenting the sale of seafod including oysters, shrimp, crabs and fish. Noted on each page is the person or company whom purchased the seafood, date and thier geographic location.

Administrative History

Packers Ice and Cold Storage Company was established in 1946 and provided 110,000 cubic square feet of cold storage for the seafood packers of Crisfield, Maryland. The company folded after the development of small affordable ice making machines. Eventually, government regulations would require businesses to have thier own coolers and freezers making the company obsolete.
