Abstract

The audio-visual project materials produced by the Maryland State Department of Education document the life and customs of the peoples of Maryland including the agricultural landscape and oceanic industries as well as the historic landscape. Materials include a series of photographic slides, film strips, and the corresponding scripts to the classroom materials that date from 1950-1956 with the bulk of the material dating from 1955-1956.

Administrative History

The state audio-visual project was planned to meet the need for authentic, up-to-date, and interesting materials on life and customs in Maryland. The project represented the co-operative efforts of superintendents, supervisors, principals, teachers, pupils, and laymen in the 23 counties of Maryland and the members of the Maryland State Department of Education.

Slides, filmstrips, and folders are listed by their location in each box; any given subject may be dispersed throughout the entirety of the collection. A corresponding accession number following the slides or filmstrip notes that it has been digitized.
