Abstract

The Records of the Honors College consist of correspondence, thesis proposals, class rosters, pamphlets, The Saunterer newsletter, student projects, and photographs documenting the activities of the Honors College and Thomas E. Bellavance Honors Program. Included are documents pertaining to the Honors Society Association, Honors Program Committee, the Northeast Regional Honors Council, and the National Collegiate Honors Council.

Administrative History

The Thomas E. Bellavance Honors Program began in 1980 and in 2016, Salisbury University created the Honors College, which houses the Thomas E. Bellavance Honors Program. The Honors College is designed to bring together high-achieving students and dedicated faculty in a small university environment within the diversity of opportunity of the larger university community. It offers motivated students who are serious about their intellectual growth a variety of special classes enhanced by many cultural events and activities. The college fosters close individual contact between students and faculty and brings together talented students with many interests. Honors courses and extracurricular activities are intended to enrich and complement other educational opportunities and programs available to Salisbury University students. The records consist of correspondence, thesis proposals, class rosters, pamphlets, The Saunterer newsletter, student projects, and photographs documenting the activities of the Honors College and Thomas E. Included are documents pertaining to the Honors Society Association, Honors Program Committee, the Northeast Regional Honors Council, and the National Collegiate Honors Council.

Arrangement Statement

The records are arranged in 5 series. Series 1 contains historical materials and the Saunterer newsletter. Series 2 consists of class rosters, course offerings, thesis proposals, and other student projects. Series 3 contains various correspondence, forms, pamphlets and news items pertaining to Honors Program activities. Series 4 documents the Honors Society Association, the Honors Program Committee, the Northeast Regional Honors Council, and the National Collegiate Honors Council. Series 5 contains photographs.
