The author of this diary, Miss Halsey, was an American woman who spent time in Biarritz and Paris, France, during the First World War in 1917. She wrote about her social activities, America’s growing involvement in the war, and the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. On April 5, she took a position with the French Wounded Emergency Fund, a British relief organization. Her job was to chauffeur one of its leaders, Edith May, and deliver supplies to non-Red Cross hospitals in the Mayenne, Ernée, Loire, Sarthe, and Orne departments.

These approximately 40 music sheets are all patriotic-themed and date between 1914 and 1945. Many feature illustrations of United States navy or army soldiers at home and abroad. Some sheets are printed on "patriotic war editions" that were smaller than usual to reduce paper usage.

Rayne and Dennis Family Collection

This collection consists of material, spanning from 1911 to the 1960s, relating to the Rayne and Dennis Family. Included are a bundle postcards from 1911 to 1920s, mostly addressed to Myrtle Rayne from family and friends - most notably, her future husband David W. Dennis, cousin Willis Clark and Edward C. Smith, all who served in WWI. In addition, there are several photographs, including a black-and-white photograph labeled "The Millpond 1946," depicting young people on a frozen pond, b/w and color photographs of two boys at a bridge and possible a scenic photograph of Cypress Knee on the Pocomoke River as well as group photograph of the Whites Chapel Methodist Church Homecoming and a colored photograph of Powellville Grist Mill. The collection also contains a potholder advertising W. Howard Dennis gas station in Powellville, MD and several 1938 Dave Dennis strawberry picking coupons in quantities of 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 50 quarts.

The Rudolph and Pamela Dolle collection includes a 1776 printing of the July 10 edition of the Pennsylvania Gazette; a November 1781 edition of the Gentleman's Magazine, and a World War I print of Columbia giving her son chivalry, 1915.

This scrapbook consists of items collected by Etrope Joseph Yacks of Bay City, Michigan between 1918 and 1919. Yacks, who was a Private in the American Expeditionary Forces during the First World War, took photographs and collected postcards, as well as other ephemera, while he served overseas in France. Photographs depict soldiers in bombed areas, in addition to scenery around various cities including Paris. Ephemera includes tickets, programs, and newspaper clippings for various theatrical performances, restaurants, and other events.

They range in dates from 1694 to 2015--primarily dating from the late 18th century to the mid 20th century--and vary greatly in topics throughout world and American history. Many languages are represented, including Japanese, German, Russian, Spanish, French, and more. Subjects such as the history of education, the American Civil War, and Japanese foreign relations are especially well represented. There are approximately 1400 books and periodicals, all acquired at different times and manners.
