In a series of interviews with local Eastern Shore resident Mark Holsinger during 1972, former Salisbury University students Paul Purdum and Lynne Matthiesen collected folk legends. For this collection, these interviews focus on various stories revolving around the tale of the silver handled whip, that was said to be used by a decease woman protecting and haunting her fortune from her adopted brother whom she earlier in life disowned. For this collection, these interviews focus on various stories of a white dove that a widowed husband believed to be his dead wife. His wife promised she would return as a dove before she died, but did not return until her husband was getting married to another women. To make his new wife happy, he tried to shoot the dove and the next day he mysteriously died. Most interviews include personal descriptions of the interviewer and informant, and the story.
