Harry O. Korff, Jr. papers

The Harry O. Korff, Jr. papers document his military service in the United States Air Corps from 1943-1995 with the bulk of the materials dating to 1943-1950. Korff, a Salisbury, Maryland native and dental surgeon, was enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in Italy. His papers reflect his World War II service through records from various training schools he attended throughout the United States and a scrapbook showcasing his training in Texas and Florida as well as his active duty service in Italy.

Jessie Morris Jones Wicomico High School Collection

The Jessie Morris Jones collection has a variety of paper materials. There are yearbooks, retirement notes/cards, class reunion pamphlets, grade/student roster books, pamphlets on graduation procedures, a folder with information on a charter government, and newspaper articles. The Yearbooks and the newspapers associated with the yearbooks range from 1941-1971. The retirement notes/cards include letters and cards to Mr. Jones from students and faculty discussing his retirement, as well as, invitations to retirement banquets and other events. The class reunion pamphlets are mostly invitations and programs, with a few booklets notating what happened to the graduating class after high school. In that group were also two paper weights with a picture of the school and the dates of the graduating classes. There is a large assortment of grade/student roster books from the years 1929-1969. Within those books are lists of names of the students as well as their progress in the class. The graduate collection is a series of programs, procedure lists, and a few booklets on where students see themselves in the future. A large binder is dedicated to articles and policy books on the charter government, or “home rule”, instituted in 1963. Finally the last groups of materials are newspaper articles on a variety of topics. Some are the WiHi student run newspaper clippings, other articles deal with the hiring of new teachers, retirement of old teachers, and school board elections. There is a folder in this group dedicated to all the teacher and school board officials’ retirements from the years 1948-1978.

Quantico Postal Office records

This collection contains materials from the Quantico, Maryland Post Office, a rural office of the United States Postal Service. Included are two postmaster receipt books, a ledger of the money orders issued in August of 1942, a cash book from April 1943, the bills for box rentals from 1942; the 1893 Post Laws and Regulations of the United States of America, and Agriculture Yearbook of 1925.

Vernon Shay papers

Vernon Shay papers document the life and work of Vernon Shay, who was involved in the Civilian Conservation Corps, 1933-1937, as well as an Army battalion member in World War II.
