Transaction Abstract Whereas a Bill of Sale from Samuel Traverse & William R. Traverse, executors of Matthias Traverse to Charlotte H. Pattison, now deceased, dated 17 Jan 1843 & recorded in Liber W.J. No 2 folio 63 chattel records for $300 Traverse sold to Pattison Negro boy James to serve 20 years from 1 Jun 1843 agreeable to Matthias' will. Bill of Sale is deemed to be materially defective due to error in date of certificate. Charlotte H. Pattison's letters of administration on estate granted by Orphans Court of Baltimore City to Joseph H. Edmondson of Baltimore City. Therefore this instrument is executed: For $1 paid to Edmondson by Samuel & Wm. Traverse, Negro James to serve as slave within Bill of Sale comencing from 1 Jun 1843. Signed 4 Mar 1857.
